News and Catch Reports Post New Entry

Wales v England and Other Catch Results.

Posted by Richard on May 17, 2017 at 6:50 PM

It’s been a dry week with the temperature dropping with two mornings of hard frost.

Wednesdays open was on the Match Lake.

1st on peg 9 was Alan Godrich with 61lb.

2nd was Rob White on peg 13 with 51lb 2oz.

3rd on peg 21 was Jim Hart weighing 41lb 10oz.

White Springs Sunday open was on the New Canal.

1st was Dan Bowen on peg 5 weighing 125lb 6oz.

2nd on peg 19 was Alan Godrich with 108lb 8oz.

3rd on peg 27 was Chris Wells with 72lb 2oz.

On the Big Pit, Dan Jones was with his mate Steve Welch and had one of their best perch sessions ever.

Dan had his PB of 3lb 9oz; Steve had 4 perch at 3lb 10oz, 3lb 04oz, 2lb 15oz and a small one.

On the Specimen Lake Kris Jenkins on 8A had 4 takes and landed them all; he had a low double, 21lb common, 22lb mirror and a mirror known as ‘Big Jaffa’ at 35lb 05oz.

Connor Evans had a dream session on 9A catching a beautiful common at 38lb 10oz called ‘Bailey’ which was his PB. Half an hour later he had ‘Buttons’, another common at 31lb 10oz.

Neil Say on peg 11A equalled his PB with the stunning ‘Cheryl’ weighing in at a healthy 38lb 10oz, its top weight.

This weekend also saw the Ladies Anglo - Welsh competition. Tania Williams and Sam Hoskins had five fish including Sam’s PB, a cracking 38lb common. With the lake fishing hard they were the only peg to catch. But with 30 seconds left of the match, on peg 8A was Natalie Chapman who struck into a fish. With the hooter going she had 15 mins to land it. With it being the end of the match both teams gathered around as it was a big fish. With everyone watching she landed the awesome ‘Bruno’ which topped the scaled at 40lb dead.

What an ending to a great match. The Match was a draw on points but England won with the biggest total weight.

Congratulations to all on their PB’s and a big thankyou to Gareth Oakes and Rob Hughes and their teams for choosing our venue, it was a pleasure to have you here.

Well done to all anglers and until next time, tight lines and all.
