It’s been very wet this week at the fishery, and the fishing has been very good at times.
On the match scene, this week’s Wednesday open was on the Match Lake and the results were very close with ounces separating many of the anglers.
1st peg 7 Brian Higgins 104lb 14oz
2nd peg 14 Brian Protheroe103lb 8oz
3rd peg 13 James Thomas 102lb 11oz
4th peg 24 Paddy Payne 72lb
5th peg 11 Andy Rodgers
Sundays open was also on the Match Lake
This was won by Alan Godrich 142lb 10oz off peg 14
Second was Jim Hart with 101lb 80z off peg 13
And third was Steven Beresford with 71lb 8oz off peg 20
Glamorgan Angling were on the New Canal which saw a 55lb 8oz bag from peg 5 win for Dave Pike with Steve Cough second with 54lb 2oz bag off peg 8 followed in third place with Rob Michael landing a 37lb 8oz bag off peg 21
Two anglers Garin Grace Rossiter and Matthew O’Brian landed nineteen carp between them on the Big Pit.
Visiting angler John Evans from Bristol caught four Perch weighing up to 4lb 1oz using red maggot and prawn, whilst Anthony Bradley had a cracking day on the Match Lake and caught a lovely Barbel.
On the Specimen Lake more personal bests were achieved this week.
“Mr Tuts” a common at 29lb 12oz was landed as a new pb for Joe Olewnik off peg 11a. And from cabin 11, Nathan Dee also landed a pb with “The Turk” weighing in 31lb 13oz.
Ashley Hughes landed a mirror at 27lb from The Island, whilst Darren Ned landed two carp including a pretty 24lb mirror from Megs Corner.
Sam Child who’s previous pb was from the fishery went and caught a new pb again from peg 8 with a 32lb 14oz common called “Jasper”
Congratulations to everyone with the new personal bests, the management apologise for the inconvenience caused last week in the shop, alterations to the shelving and layout were made to allow new stock to be added.
