End of February Match & Catch Results.

The fishing has been up and down again this week with some good weights on days and bad weights on others.

 

The White Springs open was on the Big Pit on Wednesday.

 

Alan Godrich came 1st with 61lb 12oz.

 

2nd was Rob White with 41lb 08oz.

 

3rd was Jim Hart with 14lb 12oz.

 

Sundays open was on The New Canal which saw Alan Godrich win again with 76lb 08oz.

 

2nd was Chris Bradley with 31lb 07oz.

 

3rd was Steven Beresford with 19lb 12oz.

 

Rhys Levi John braved the terrible weather on The Big Pit catching several carp in a 24hr session.

 

 

 

Jamie Davies had six fish on the Pleasure Lake including a couple of nice doubles all caught using White Springs Banana pop ups over a bed of freebies.

 

On the Specimen Lake the fish have been flying out with over forty fish being caught this week.

 

Simon Neale did a quick overnighter on the Soil Shed landing three fish including a beautiful 26lb 10oz leather. All caught using White Springs Cream & Toffee pop ups.

 

 

 

On the old cabin Edward Anthony and his daughter Carys had a good week catching six fish each.

 

Carys had four nice 20s including a nice 24lb 06oz mirror. Edward had three nice 20s including a 26lb 07oz common.

 

 

 

 

Angler of the week is Ryan Donahoe who had peg 11 for 24hrs and caught a stunning mirror. A personal best of 37lb 06oz. He then had to move to 11A for 24hrs and caught a lovely 21lb 08oz leather.

 

 

 

Both caught on the White Spring’s Banana Wafters. Well done lad.

It’s been a busy week at the fishery on all of the lakes.

 

The Winter league had its fourth round and on the New Canal.

 

Danny Baker came 1st with 60lb 12oz.

 

2nd was John Harvey weighing in with 57lb 14oz.

 

3rd was Robert Jones with 42lb 10oz.

 

On the Match Lake Adam Mitchel was 1st with 47lb 03oz.

 

2nd was James Thomas with 43lb 10oz.

 

3rd was Chris Jones with 42lb 05oz.

 

The White Springs open was on the Pleasure Lake and Graham Davies came 1st weighing 35lb.

 

2nd was Brian Protheroe with 24lb 08oz.

 

3rd was Alan Godrich with 23lb 14oz.

 

Tyrone Smith had a nice ten pounder on the Big Pit.

 

Mike Jones had a couple of nice Perch on the Pleasure Lake the biggest at 3lb.

 

On the Specimen Lake, Ethan Thomas showed that hard work and persistence pays off, after months of trying to catch a 30 from White Springs he finally got one.

 

Fishing off the Old Cabin he landed a new thirty for the lake, a stunning 32lb 02oz mirror which he named ‘Double D’.

 

 

Carl Buttons had two fish including his PB. A beautiful common weighing 32lb 04oz called ‘Button’.

With the weather still wet and cold, the fishing is very up and down.

 

The open on Wednesday was on the New Canal with Dan Bowen winning with 52lb 3oz.

 

2nd was Rob Jones with 25lb.

 

3rd was Alan Godrich with 23lb.

 

Sunday was White Springs winter leagues 3rd round on the New Canal.

 

Ben Hicks had a good day weighing 95lb 05oz.

 

2nd was Chris Wells with 36lb 02oz.

 

3rd was Bob Giles with 50lb 13oz.

 

On the Match Lake John Harvey won with 36lb 02oz.

 

2nd was Sean McCarthy with 30lb 04oz.

 

On the Big Pit Jamie Davies had a few nice carp using White Springs Banana pink and white pop-ups.

 

 

 

The Specimen Lake has come alive this week with over thirty fish coming out.

 

John Flewin continued his hot streak having three fish off the soil shed including another ‘A’ team member ‘CTC’ weighing 31lb 10oz.

 

James Morgan on peg 10 beat his PB landing the stunning Rambo weighing 38lb 02oz.

 

 

 

 

Jason Hook on peg 7 had a nice brace with a 21lb mirror. He then landed a new thirty for the lake a beautiful 32lb mirror which Jason named ‘Captain Hook’.

With the weather being very cold and wet at the end of the week the fishing has been very hot and cold.

 

The White Springs open on Wednesday was on the Match Lake and Chris Bradley on peg 19 weighed in 55lb 10oz,

 

2nd was Rob Jones on peg 16 with 45lb 14oz

 

3rd was Alan Godrich on peg 21 with 34lb 9oz.

 

On Sunday the winter league had their second round, with both matches being very close.

 

On the Match Lake Rob Jones in 1st place with 32lb 2oz,

 

2nd was Mikey Williams with 30lb 10oz

 

3rd was Ian Exall with 29lb 9oz.

 

On the New Canal Nigel Morris had his second win weighing 48lb 6oz,

 

2nd was Dan Bowen with 42lb 8oz.

 

3rd was , Andrew Crocker with 41lb 8oz.

 

Rob Jones fishing this week on the Match Lake had a cracking F1 weighing in at 8lb 8oz.

 

Alan Price had a good session on the soil shed with 2 fish including Mr Tutts, at his biggest weight of 31lb 08oz.

Aaron Fisher had a nice end to a hard session, he had 2 fish a nice scaly mirror 17lb and another mirror at 21lb 2oz.

Hywel Lloyd Jones had a good session with 3 fish, two at 24lb and another at 20lb.

It’s in winter mode, some days are good then others are bad, but despite that Ernie Mitchell comes to every winter league with his son Adam.

 

On the first match this year Ernie picked a not so good peg on the New Canal only to go and win the day with 59lb, and Adam came second with 55lb. 28 anglers took part, well done to Ernie you haven’t lost your touch.

 

Another angler to do well was Alan Godrich fishing with the senior group to land 92lb on the Big Pit.

 

In 2nd place was Tony Wale with 71lb. Also the Perch have been on the move with visiting angler Graeme King landing a nice 4lb 12oz in mint condition off the pit-canal.

 

On the Specimen Lake, angler of the week was Simon Neale who fished the soil shed for a quick overnighter to land three fish to 21lb.

Another angler to do well was John Flewing who fished the soil shed for 48hours to land two fish including a fish called Nessie at 32lb, also Scott Roberts fished peg 11 to land two fish to 24lb.

New Stock.

White Springs has again added some new residents to the Specimen Lake. They have introduced nine new thirties from the same supplier who has given us such beauties as the Turk, Bruno, Warrior, Big Jaffa, Hob Nob and Cheryl to name but a few.

 

The introduction of three Commons and six Mirrors have, yet again, added to the already well stocked Specimen Lake.

 

All fish were in pristine condition and have never been fished for before and if like the other stock they will be hard fighting.

 

Here at White Springs their policy to be the best fishery in the Uk has certainly taken an up turn with these new residents.

 

Here we have all weights and pictures of the new specimens that will make the lake one of the most fished here in Wales.

 

Many thanks to the staff at White Springs for their continued dedication to make our specimen angling as good as anything throughout the country.

Mid November Match & Catch Reports.

It’s been another hard weeks fishing again on all the lakes.

 

Some days its fished ok, others days very hard.

 

Wednesdays open was on the New Canal and Brian Protheroe won with 84lb.

 

2nd was Paddy Paine with 18lb 4oz.

 

3rd Alan Godrich with 16lb.

 

Sundays open was also on the New Canal.

 

John Charlesworth won weighing 32lb 4oz.

 

2nd Alan Godrich with 12lb 4oz.

 

3rd Andy Kirtley with 9lb 14oz.

 

Two young angling brothers Rhys and Luke John had a good day on the Pleasure Lake catching a few carp each.

 

Mark Davies had a cracking session on the Big Pit catching eight carp up to 17lb.

 

On the Specimen Lake Steve Hughes on the old cabin caught a nice 20lb mirror.

 

Darren Ned Joyce did very well on peg 13 with 21lb 5oz leather and a 20lb 2oz mirror.

Early November Fishery News.

With temperatures dropping the fishing has been very hard at times.

 

White Springs open on Wednesday was on the Match Lake and Alan Godrich won with 47lb.

Jim Hart was 2nd with 41lb 04oz.

 

3rd was Brian Protheroe with 37lb 16oz.

 

Sundays open was again on the Match Lake and after another hard frost it fished very hard.

 

Dick Brunton won with 28lb 07oz.

 

2nd was Chris Bradley with 28lb.

 

3rd was Aaron Sluman with 15lb.

 

On the Pleasure Lake David Jones had nice day fishing for silvers netting 24lb using red maggot.

 

On the Big Pit John Edwards had a day fishing for perch catching 4, the biggest 3lb 06oz.

 

The Specimen lake, with the combination of high pressure and a constant dropping of temperature been fishing really hard.

 

John Harris on peg 6 had a nice 24lb 06oz leather on White Springs Cream & Toffee.

The White Springs open on Wednesday was on The Match Lake and Alan Godrich won with 86lb,

 

2nd was Rob White 79lb 12oz.

 

3rd was Mick Brown with 64lb 6oz.

 

Sundays open was on The New Canal and Steve (hotdog) Jenkins won with 57lb 10oz.

 

Peter Williams was 2nd 56lb 04oz

 

3rd was Alan Godrich 45lb 12oz.

 

On the Pleasure Lake Stuart Richards had a nice day catching carp steadily all day, his best a 16lb common.

 

Steffan Wolf was on the Big Pit and had ten fish the best a 11lber using White Springs Banana wafters.

 

 

 

The White Springs open on the Specimen Lake was on this weekend and fished really hard with only five fish being caught.

 

Callum Morgan (last year’s winner) on peg 9A had a good start catching a 19lb 15oz two hours into the match.

 

He held the lead until Sunday morning when Matthew Steele on peg 6 caught his second taking his total weight to 31lb.

 

With half an hour to go Reece Sales on peg 8A hooked into a fish from the right hand margin, when he got it in the net he knew he had something special, it was ‘Bruno’ a stunning common weighing 39lb 08oz.

 

 

 

It was his Personal best and he won the competition.

 

Reece won £1000 and another £200 for the biggest fish.

White Springs open on Wednesday was on the New Canal and 1st was Chris Bradley with 62lb,

 

2nd was Alan Godrich 48lb 04oz,

 

Jim Hutton was 3rd weighing in 43lb 08oz.

 

Sundays open was on the New Canal and Alan Godrich was back on form weighing 101lb,

 

2nd was John Charlesworth with 89lb,

 

3rd was Mathew Edwards 58lb 10oz.

 

Aberglais were on the Match Lake and Kevin Stibbs was 1st with 117lb 08oz,

 

2nd Phillip Jones 80lb,

 

3rd was Mark Williams with 67lb and close behind in

 

4th was Paddy Payne with 66lb 06oz.

 

 

On the Pit Luke Rees had a few including this lovely 12lb 06oz mirror. Mark Davies had a cracking day on the Big Pit catching over twenty fish the best 18lb 6oz common, all caught on White Springs Squid & Orange.

 

On the Specimen Lake Johnny Pritchard had three fish including ‘Warrior’ a stunning mirror weighing 36lb 04oz.

 

 

Rob Hopkin had a cracking session on peg 9A, he had three fish, a 23lb mirror, followed by ‘The Turk’ a lovely mirror weighing 31lb and to top it off he caught ‘Bailey’ a beautiful common weighing 37lb 07oz becoming his new PB.

 

 

James Bromley also beat his PB with the much sought after ‘Hobnob’ a stunning common weighing 37lb 11oz.

Early October Match & Catch Results

With the weather turning colder the fishing is slowing up, except for the anglers that change their ways.

 

The Bream and the silver fish are on the feed.

 

Last weeks match was on the Pleasure Lake, twelve anglers fished the match in very wet and windy conditions, after 5 hours Lew Spinks managed to get 80.8lb to win in second place was Jim Hutton with 74.12.

 

On Sunday there was an open match on the Match Lake with Neil Daniels on peg 2 winning the match with63.14lb.

 

2nd was Dick Brunton with 57lb,

 

3rd was Peter Williams with 56.7lb.

 

On the Big Pit Ryan Thomas landed seventeen carp in a day with 11 of them being over double figures.

 

On the Specimen Lake there has been a lot of big fish on the feed. Kristian Jenkings landed a fish called Bruno at 39.7lb on peg 8.

 

Karl Howells landed his PB with a 32lb common.

 

Whilst two anglers from Llandriddnodd Wells, who fished peg 3 and 3a ended up both catching the Turk with in two days of each other at 31lb.

At White Springs this week, the open on Wednesday was on the Big Pit.

 

Alan Godrich won weighing 67lb 02oz.

 

2nd Brian Protheroe 36lb 08oz

 

3rd Alan Jenkins 33lb 12oz.

 

Sunday’s open was on The New Canal and Alan Godrich made it two wins on the trot weighing with 90lb.

 

2nd was Andy Kirtley with 78lb 14oz.

3rd was Neil Daniels with 73lb 06oz.

 

On the Specimen Lake this week it was our charity competition for children’s cancer and Cystic Fibrosis. 36 anglers turned up for a full lake and did very well with sponsorships.

 

 

 

 

Prizes were donated by Nash Tackle, Brian Hodder, Sascha Dicks Plumbing, John Cooper, John Flewin and White Springs, which we are very thankful.

 

In all so far we have raised £4000 for the charities.

 

A big pat on the back to everyone involved.

 

The winners were Robert and Steven Houston with 95lb 02oz.

 

 

 

 

2nd was Tom Bryant and Ryan Donahoe with 74lb 12oz including a 36lb common.

 

 

 

3rd was Kris Jenkins and Darren Ned Joyce with 57lb 13oz.

 

Jamie Davies and Michael Macnamara were 4th with 56lb 12oz.

At White Springs this week, Wednesdays open match was on the New Canal.

Lou Spinks won with 79lb.

Brian Protheroe was 2nd with 66lb 04oz.

Joint 3rd with 51lb 04oz was Alan Godrich and Rob White.

Sundays open was on the Match Lake saw Andy Kirtley 1st with 128lb 08oz.

2nd was Ryan Dummer with 114lb.

3rd Dick Brunton with 86lb 14oz.

 

On the Pleasure Lake Lee Rhodes had a great day with thirteen Carp and plenty of Roach, Rudd, Bream and Perch.

Young angler Luke John who had a good day catching carp, the biggest 10lb. He also showed excellent fish care.

 

 

 

On the Specimen Lake, Richard McCartney from Worcester came for the first time and after a walk around the lake picked peg 8A. He then had a great 24hrs; he caught the beautiful common ‘Hob Nob’ at 36lb 06oz becoming his new PB. Next he caught a 19lb ghostly, and just to top it off he caught the ‘Turk’, a stunning mirror at 31lb 02oz. He left a happy man and cant wait to come back.

 

 

 

Mark Powell had a good 48 catching six fish, including ‘Big Jaffa’,

a lovely mirror weighing 33lb and ‘Boyo’ a 31lb 08oz common all caught on White Springs Banana.

 

 

 

Ryan Morley had a nice session on peg 11. He had two fish, a 20lb 08oz mirror and a 22lb 04oz grassy which was his PB grass carp.

Sundays open on the Match Lake saw Andrew Ford win weighing 106lb 14oz.

 

2nd was Steve Shaw 63lb

 

3rd Andy Kirtley with 55lb 08oz.

 

Aberglais were on the New Canal on Sunday.

 

Kevin Stibbs came 1st with 61lb 14oz.

 

2nd was Brian Protheroe with 45lb 05oz

On the Big Pit Chris Bowen was teaching his 3yr old daughter Ella Bowen and she caught a lovely mirror.

 

 

 

Richard James saw his young son catch his first carp on the Pleasure Lake. Well done to the youngsters.

 

 

On the Specimen Lake David Bevan fishing on cabin nine caught a lovely common weighing 36lb using White Springs Cream & Toffee and Essential Cell yellow topper.

 

 

 

 

Reece Sales had a good 24hr session on 11A with a 24lb common and a mirror at 28lb 02oz, both taken on White Springs Squid & Octopus.

 

 

Callum Morgan had a lovely common weighing 29lb 08oz.

Wednesdays White Springs open was on the Match Lake with Steven Beefy Beresford winning with 69lb 04oz.

 

2nd Jim Hart 57lb 12oz.

 

3rd Brian Morgan 53lb.

 

Sundays White Springs open was on the Match Lake.

 

Neil Daniels from Pembroke won with 102lb 12oz.

 

2nd was Andy Kirtley 84lb

 

3rd Chris Bradley 64lb 08lb.

 

Sir Howy were on the New Canal in a close match.

 

Phil Wrawlings won with 83lb.

 

2nd Joel Worgan 77lb

 

3rd Mathew Edwards 76lb.

 

On the Big Pit David Ross stayed in the new cabin for 24hours and had twelve carp the biggest an 18lb common, all caught on White Springs Squid & Octopus.

 

The Specimen Lake is still fishing steady with angler Anthony Needs having a dream session on Peg 10.

 

After fishing for years he raised his personal best to 26lb on his last visit two weeks ago, but on this session he hammered it twice.

 

He caught the stunning mirror ‘Big B’ at 33lb 10oz a new personal best.

 

 

 

Carp number two was a common called ‘Boyo’ weighing 31lb 03oz,

 

 

 

 

and to beat his personal best again he had the beautiful ‘Cheryl’ another common weighing 33lb 12oz.

 

 

 

Gareth Mayer on peg 6 had four fish the biggest being a lovely 29lb 08oz common.

 

Ryan Morley on peg 6A had three fish including a new personal best, a lovely mirror weighing 23lb 06oz.

With the weather being mostly sunny last week, it was a busy week here at White Springs.

 

Wednesdays match was on the New Canal.

 

Dan Bowen beat the other twelve anglers with 107lb 14oz.

 

2nd was Steve O’Mara 84lb 6oz.

 

3rd was Alan Godrich 78 lb12oz.

 

Sundays White Springs open on the Match Lake had Pembrokeshire angler Dick Brunton who won weighing with 79 lb 06oz.

 

2nd Chris Wells 69lb and Chris Bradley a close 3rd with 67lb12oz.

 

Glamorgan angling were here again fishing the New Canal.

 

In a close match and winning by 2oz was Dean Jay with 63lb 08oz.

 

2nd Charlie Wrawlings 63lb 06oz.

 

3rd Rob Michael 51lb 12oz.

 

On the Big Pit Robert Jones from Port Talbot stayed for a 24hr session and had twelve carp the biggest 18lb 06oz using squid.

 

He also had six bream up to 6lb.

 

Steffan Wolf had a nice day on the Big Pit his biggest being 12lb.

 

 

 

On the Specimen Lake Jamie Davies had a beautiful mirror weighing 28lb 4oz from peg 3 using White Springs banana boilies.

 

 

 

Rob Evans had a good session smashing his PB with a stunning mirror at 35lb.

 

Darren Lee Morris was another happy angler landing a 33lb mirror and beating his PB.

Another busy week at the fishery, but the fishing has been quite hard.

 

Wednesdays match on the Pleasure Lake saw Dan Bowen win with 66lb 12oz.

 

2nd Alan Goodrich 53lb 6oz.

 

3rd Alan Taylor 29lb 8oz.

 

Sundays match on the New Canal had Chris Bradley win with 98lb 10oz.

 

2nd Dick Brunton 58lb.

 

3rd Steve Omara 47lb 10oz.

 

One Last Cast were on the Match Lake Steve Roberts won with 95lb. 2nd was Alan Taylor 60lb.

 

3rd Paul Ewells 52lb.

 

Local angler Johnny Evans had a cracking 24hrs on the Big Pit with 32 carp the biggest a 22lb mirror.

 

On the Specimen Lake Tom Bryant from Pembroke had a cracking session with a stunning mirror ‘Charlie’ weighing 30lb 4oz.

 

 

Neil ‘Jinx’ Jenkins had the Turk, a lovely 31lb 8oz mirror.

It’s been another busy period at the fishery this week; anglers have been catching fish from all the lakes despite the up and down weather.

 

Wednesdays match on the New Canal had Chris Bradley winning with 96lb.

 

2nd Alan Goodrich 63lb 8oz.

 

3rd Steve ‘Beefy’ Beresford 58lb 6oz.

 

Sir Howy were on the New Canal on Sunday.

 

Mathew Edwards won with 104lb 8oz.

 

2nd Tom Guslin 88lb 2oz.

 

3rd James Thomas 85lb 8oz.

 

4th Luke Sorokin 82lb 8oz.

 

It was a very close run match.

 

A regular visitor to White Springs John Roach, his son and nephew had a good session on the Specimen Lake.

 

John Senior had twelve fish including a 21lb 8oz, 24lb, 27lb2oz, 27lb 6oz and a new PB of 34lb, the cracking mirror Big B.

 

 

 

Congratulations to John. His son also called John had nine fish and his nephew had two fish.

 

Graeme Andrews kept his good streak going with his fourth 30 in three consecutive 48hrs sessions. He landed the Turk weighing in at 31lb 8oz.

 

 

 

He has now caught five of the A-Team fish.

 

The Specimen Lake has now produced nine or ten thirty plus fish this week and is getting very busy, so you’ll need to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Late July Match & Catch Reports

It’s been a busy week here at White Springs but the fishing has been both very good and quite hard at times with the changing weather.

 

Wednesdays White Springs open was on the Match Lake Chris Bradley had a good day on peg 7 weighing 119lb 12oz.

 

2nd was Alan Goodrich with 81lb 10oz.

 

3rd Rob White 73lb 12oz.

 

Sunday’s open was on the Big Pit and Chris Bradley won again with 61lb 12oz a close 2nd was Alan Godrich with 60lb 12oz.

 

Rob Skellett Summer League had their competition at White Springs this Sunday.

 

The match was held on the New Canal with James Thomas bagging 112lb 4oz.

 

2nd Ian Exall 92lb.

 

3rd Andy Neal 68lb 6oz.

 

On the Match Lake Neil Morgan won with 96lb 4oz.

 

2nd Mathew Gronow 75lb.

 

3rd Glyn Reynolds 73lb 6oz.

 

Young angler Chris Bowen did well on the Pleasure Lake catching a few including a lovely orange Koi.

 

 

Graeme Andrews had a cracking session with two 30lb plus fish in an hour.

 

Graeme landed a beautiful common called Bailey weighing 36lb 10oz as the fish swam out of his retaining sling, his second rod went and 10 minutes later he was having his picture taken with a stunning common called Tips at 31lb 4oz.

 

 

 

Leighton Morris had two fish from peg 10 including this lovely 20lb Koi.

The fishing has been very good again this week at the Springs with anglers from all over having some nice weights.

 

Wednesdays match on the Big Pit had Alan Goddrich winning with 123lb 4oz.

 

2nd Jim Hart 52lb 6oz.

 

3rd Steve O’Mara 38lb 8oz.

 

Sundays open was on the Match Lake and an almost unbeatable Alan Godrich won with 135lb 12oz.

 

2nd Ryan Drummer on 108lb 6oz.

 

3rd was Chris Bradley 88lb 8oz.

 

4th Dick Brunton 83lb 12oz.

 

Sir Howy were on the New Canal and Rob Jones was 1st with 90lb.

 

2nd Luke Sorokin 78lb 12oz.

 

3rd James Thomas 63lb 10oz.

 

4th Andrew Crocker 62lb.

 

The Big Pit saw anglers Jake Andrews and Richie Jones fish overnight and have over 70 carp between them using White Springs Cream and Toffee.

 

On the Specimen Lake Jamie Davies fished peg 6a and had a stunning 23lb Grass carp, he was over the moon as he has been after one for 4 years, he caught it on the White Springs Banana.

 

 

Darren Stephens finally broke his 100plus hour blanking streak, fishing cabin 9, he landed a 23lb common, he was even happier a few hours later beating his PB by 1oz catching CTC’s cousin weighing 30lb 3oz.

 

 

Leighton Morris ended a blanking spell with 2 fish in 10min a stunning 20lb Koi being the best.
