This week we had our annual 48hr open competition on The Specimen Lake.
The lake fished quite hard with only ten fish being caught. The lead changed hands a few times and was still anybody’s right to the end.
Leyton Morris won the £1000 prize for heaviest weight; he also won £200 for the heaviest fish 31lb 14oz just beating Matthew Steele’s 30lb 10oz common.
1st – Leyton Morris, 3 fish, 31lb 14oz, 21lb 6oz, 16lb 12oz.
2nd – Jamie Rutherford, 2 fish, 22lb 3oz, 17lb 15oz.
3rd – Matthew Steele, 1 fish, 30lb 10oz.
Wednesdays open was on The Match Lake;
1st – Rob White on peg 19 with 123lb 2oz.
2nd – Alan Godrich on peg 7 with 88lb.
3rd – Paddy Payne on peg 13 with 71lb 4oz.
4th – Brian Protheroe on peg 14 with 62lb 2oz.
Sundays open was on The New Canal;
1st – Mathew Edwards on peg 37 with 60lb 2oz.
2nd – Dick Brunton on peg 11 with 58lb 2oz.
3rd – Mick Round on peg 16 with 50lb 5oz.
On The Big Pit Paul Boyce was perch fishing and had 3 in total including a 4lb 2oz and 3lb 8oz. Nick Jones had a good day fishing for bream catching 60lb including some nice 4/5lbers.
