News and Catch Reports Post New Entry

Recent news and captures

Posted by Richard on August 16, 2011 at 12:55 PM

It’s been a quiet time for news since the Nash Show.

There was some action reported from the pleasure lake where Adrian Mitchell landed all species to weigh in a bag of almost 78lb along with fellow angler James Thomas who bagged 72lb from the next peg. The Pleasure Lake maintains to fish well no matter what the weather conditions.

The specimen lake has been slowly picking up after the erratic spawning period.

Mathew Lammos and friend Simon managed 8 fish in a 48 hour session, the biggest to 22lb 8oz.

The Wednesday before the Nash Show saw the Big Common grace the bank for the first time in a couple of months. Landed by Aberdare angler Gerwyn Hussey who was down for the week with his girlfriend and mate Daniel?

This past week end has seen the specimen lake continue turning out the 30lb plus fish.

Have not had much information but it’s rumoured that a 39lb plus carp has been out and Vince had confirmation of a 31lb common. If you are one of the captors of these fish please do not hesitate to email with any pictures you may have taken.

I myself ended a bit of a barren spell this past weekend with the capture of a mirror carp we think might have been named “Shoulders”.

This lovely specimen graced my net at just over the 24lb mark while my mate landed two mirrors of 16 and 18lb plus he lost two at the net. The Carp are starting to fight hard again.

This coming weekend is the Tony Smith Memorial charity event. All monies raised will go to cancer research. Please feel free to approach me with any stories or pictures you may want to add to our website or donations you would like to make.

It should be a great weekend which will see twenty anglers pit their wits against each other on the specimen lake for this much coveted shield, which was kindly donated by Tony’s best mate Brian who will be attending and competing himself.

The weekend match report will follow shortly.

Tight lines.
