Fishing has been good this past week.
The midweek match held on the Match Lake saw Tony Wale fishing off peg seven to the island for carp, bagging an impressive 99lb 8oz.. Another fish would have seen him break the 100lb barrier. Better luck next time Tony.
Neil Daniels on peg 17 fishing the method managed a decent bag of 74lb 14oz for second spot. Joe Lewis on peg eleven landed mainly bream for 61lb 3oz for third place. Well done lads.
The canals are fishing very well.
Some lovely bream have been reported from out of the margins.
The Pit and Pleasure lakes are still fishing really well. Carp being the best species but Tench have been reported to two and a half pound from the pit.
Anglers have been a plenty on the specimen lake. Travelling from as far away as Liverpool and fishing out of the cabin on peg one they managed common carp to 31 and half pound.
Another angler from the Essex area caught a mirror from the island which weighed in at thirty nine and a half pound.
Reports of Carp from most swims have hit the 20lb mark over this past week. They are starting to gain the weight lost through spawning and the lake should at least produce two forties by the winter.
Don’t forget that this coming weekend is the Tony Smith Memorial shield in aid of cancer research.
There will be prize raffles from sponsors such as Nash Tackle and Bait, Lammos baits, B&Q DIY superstore plus many more.
Bring the family along and enter the prize raffles and have a stroll if your not fishing. The more support and money raised the better.
The specimen lake will be closed from Thursday evening till Sunday evening for this event.
Again I urge you if you have any photos or catch reports you want posting please don’t hesitate to email me.
Tight lines and all.
