Another cold windy week turning milder towards the end

Sunday’s open was on the Match Lake

1st peg 20 Brian Protheroe 48lb 6oz

2nd peg 18 Andy Rogers 29lb 8oz

3rd peg 7 Steven Beresford 28lb 8oz

On the Specimen Lake the fish are starting to come on the feed.

On the Island Matt Steele had the beautiful common, Mt Tuts at 32lb,.

On peg 7 Andrew Rees did well with 2 fish including a stunning mirror weighing 32lb 2oz which he named ‘Lucky’.



Teddy Beaver was on cabin 11 and had 2 fish a 23lb mirror and the lovely ‘Whiskers’ at 29lb 7oz.

Bill O’sullivan on peg 9 almost got to name a new thirty he landed a nice mirror at 29lb 14oz.



Gareth Walton was on the Island swim and caught the stunning ‘Clover’ at 29lb.

On the Soil Shed White Springs Bailiff Sam Childs caught a perfect 25lb common.



Jamie Rutherford fished peg 11 and caught a nice 30lb 1oz mirror, the first time the fish has been over 30lb and so Jamie named it ‘Two Scale’.

It’s halfway through the 6 match competition and the leaders at the moment are

Justin Davies fished the Big Pit this week and had a few carp.



On the Specimen Lake Lee Stokes fished peg 6 and had 5 fish up to 21lb.

Liam Smith was on peg 3 and had a nice 22lb mirror caught on CR1 baits.

Simon Clayton was on Meg’s Corner and caught a 21lb mirror.

Lee Callaghan was on the Soil Shed and caught a 26lb 2oz mirror.



Marcus Jones on peg 6 had a 20lb mirror.

On peg 9a John Flewin fished and caught the elusive ‘Charlie’ a cracking mirror of 33lb 8oz.



We did some netting on the Specimen Lake and caught 3600lb of silvers which were taken out amongst all the little roach we caught a lot of specimen roach from a 1.1lb up to over 3lb and also a lot of bream 1lb up to 4lb.

First angler to catch and weigh a roach 3lb or over will wins a free days fishing. We need a picture and someone to witness it.

It’s been a cold and wet fortnight at the fishery and with the temperature dropping the fishing has been quite hard. The winter leagues second round resumed on the 28th Jan.

White Springs open was on the Match Lake this Sunday

On the Specimen Lake the fishing has been up and down but still some nice fish coming out. Sascha Dicks fished peg 8 and had the stunning ‘Mr Happy at 31lb 2oz using a White Springs Banana wafter over a big bed of the same.



Anthony Needs fishing the Soil Shed had a beauty of a mirror. Mr Angry at 31lb 6oz using CR baits.



Gavin Wellington fished cabin 11 and had three fish, two twenty’s and the awesome ‘Rambo’ weighing 38lb 6oz using White Springs Cream and Toffee white pop up over a bed of 10mm and 15mm Cream and Toffee bottom bait.



Daniel Rees had a good session on 9a catching 3 fish including a 27lb mirror and the beautiful ‘Mr happy’ at 32lb.



After the stocking of twenty’s in November 10 in the pit and 10 30’s in the specimen lake it was the match/new canal/pleasure lakes turn V.S. fisheries supplied the fish we put 300 one and a half pound fish into each of the lakes.



The fish were absolutely stunning a big thank you to V.S.Fisheries.

It has been another steady week at the fishery.

It was the first match of the Winter League on Sunday on the Match Lake.

1st Andrew Crocker with 71lb.

2nd was Danny Baker with 63lb.

3rd was Mikey Williams with 57lb.

On the New Canal.

1st Dan Bowen with 52lb.

2nd Roy McDonald with 51lb.

3rd Ben Hicks with 37.4lb.

 

On the Specimen Lake Curtis James fished peg 9A to land two fish, the best being a fish called Nessy at 34.4lb.



Another angler to do well was regular Martin Mathews who fished peg 2 to land a fish called CTC at 34.8lb.



 

Anthony Kinman fished peg 7 to get his personal best a fish called Mr Angry at 32lb.




 

Catch Reports Up To 16th January

With the weather being a little more consistent the fishing has been steady.

Teddy Beaver moved to the Soil Shed swim to land a fish called Nails at 24.5lb within 40 mins of moving there.

Mr Pickin fished peg 8 for 48 hours to land his pb.

A fish called Rambo weighing 35.14lb.

Another angler to do well was Damian Lee Davies who fished peg 2 for 72 hours landing 2 fish including one of our new stock.

Damian called the fish Scar weighing 30lb.

White Springs Bailiff Sam Childs fished peg one for 48 hours landing 4 fish to 20lb.

Don’t forget we still have memberships available for 2018, all members can fish for free during the month of February.

A NEW LAKE RECORD COMMON ON THE SPECIMAN.

The Specimen Lake has fished well over the Christmas period. Liam Smith fished New Years eve on peg 7, 8am New Year’s Day was into a fish twenty five minutes later the fish was in the net. A common called Bruno at his biggest weight 42lb 6oz. a new PB and lake record common as well.






Martin Mathews was on peg 6 and in 20years of fishing had never had 2x 30+ fish in a session. He started off with a 24lber next morning he landed a new 30lb a cracking mirror at 31lb 11oz which he called ‘Mr Angry’ .




A couple of hours later he was again landing an absolute stunning mirror at 31lb. It was another new 30 and he instantly named it ‘Mr Happy’. Martin said it’s the best xmas present ever.




Matt Steele fished the Old Cabin and caught ‘The Long Common’ at 30lb 10oz.




Nick Parker was on 9a and had 2 fish, a lovely 26lb common and a mirror called ‘Delboy’ at 30lb 10oz.

Kevin Black all the way from ‘Burnley on his first visit to our lake fished on the Soil Shed he caught 3 fish, a 18lb 8oz common, a lovely 20lb leather and to top it off a new thirty. A stunning mirror weighing 31lb 8oz a new pb which he called ‘Olivia’.



Ryan Morley was on peg 7 and after an hour fishing had cracking common ‘Jasper’ weighing 32lb 14oz.

Fishery News Up to 11th December.

With the really cold conditions the fishery has been quiet this week.

Chris Ellis braved the weather and fished the Big Pit for carp and perch. He was rewarded with a Pb perch of 4lb 2oz and another 3lb 3oz; he also had a upper double mirror.





On the Specimen Lake Lee “Tank” Callaghan fished peg 6 for 24hrs.

Two hours into his session he caught a stunning mirror of 31lb 6oz a new 30 for the lake and Tank named it ‘Winter’ which is his favourite time to fish, then he backed it up in the morning with a 22lb 12oz common.



 

Memberships can now be purchased for next year an ideal Xmas present.

Specimen Lake membership is £90 and Pleasure lakes are £60. 2018 members will get free fishing in February, bookings for the free fishing in February will commence 2nd Jan 2018.


Also have some news from over the Christmas period.


A New fish has been out this morning (23rd December) from peg 6 weighing 31lb 11oz Caught by Martin Mathews it was fish 7 and is now called 'Mr Angry' .

Winter has certainly arrived at White Springs. It’s been either very cold or raining this week and the fishing has been very hard on days.

Sundays open was on the Match Lake.

1st Peg 2 Chris Hall 60lb 4oz.

2nd Peg 11 Peter Williams 56lb 6oz.

3rd Allan Godrich 33lb.

The Perch fishing has been very good this week again, mainly on the Big Pit. Steve Welch had two perch 3lb 4oz and one at 2lb. Dan Jones had a nice 3lb 3oz.





Chris Ellis landed a nice 3lb 1oz.



Paul Boyce also caught a nice 3lb 2oz.

John Evans braved the cold and fished the Pleasure Lake and caught four Carp up to 12lb and 30lb of Bream up to 4lb.

On the Specimen Lake the weekends are still very busy but the weekdays are fairly quiet.

Michael Mcnamara fished peg 8 and managed a 23lb mirror on the White Springs Banana bait.



Steven Houston was on cabin 9 and caught a stunning common weighing 34lb 11oz a fish known as Nessie. A new pb for Steve.



Steve Hughes fished the Old Cabin and caught a pristine common weighing 17lb 7oz on a White Spring’s Banana pop up.



Darren Ned Joyce was a very happy angler this week fishing peg 11a. He smashed his pb landing the awesome common known as Cheryl weighing in at a whopping 40lb 4oz caught using a CR1 barrel wafter.



Congratulations on your pb’s.

This Sunday we had fish delivered from Will Groves;

We stocked ten 30lb plus fish into the Specimen Lake which means we now have almost 50 fish over 30lb and a couple of 40lbs.

We also stocked ten fish of 20lb plus into the Big Pit lake.

Have to say a huge thanks to Will.

At the fishery this week the fishing has been quite hard.


Wednesdays open was on the Big Pit.


1st peg 22 Alan Godrich 99lb 10oz.


2nd peg 24 Paul Davies 59lb 8oz.


3rd peg 15 Brian Protheroe 54lb 8oz.


Sundays open was on the New Canal.


1st peg 17 Andrew ford 37lb 2oz.


2nd peg 23 Steve Beresford 35lb 9oz.


3rd peg 31 Scott Odam 31lb 4oz.


4th peg 13 Chris wells 30lb 9oz.


Dave Roberts fished for perch on the Big Pit and landed three, 1lb 8oz, 3lb 8oz and 4lb 7oz Paul Boyce also had three perch 1lb 8oz, 2lb and 2lb 8oz.






The Specimen Lake has been fishing very hard this week with only a handful of fish coming out.

Darren Mason had a pretty mirror weighing in at 17lb from the Soil Shed. Stuart Sparkes fished the old cabin and had a 24lb 4oz mirror.

Winter has certainly paid a visit to the fishery this week with frosts and wintery rain on most days, and the fishing has been hard.

Dave Roberts has been fishing the Big Pit and caught a stunning specimen Perch weighing a healthy 4lb 69oz, Chris Ellis also fishing the Big Pit had numerous carp including a double figure Ghosty.




On the Pleasure Lake John Evans had a good day landing 40lb of silvers.


On the Specimen Lake Graeme Andrews on peg 6 saved a blank with a 20lb 3oz mirror. Neil Say fished peg 8 and caught a mint 24lb 8oz mirror.



Stuart Davies fished the Island and caught 3 fish. 1st fish a mid-double 2nd a 22lb 5oz mirror and a new Pb, and he then broke his Pb again with a stunning 27lb 2oz mirror.



Simon Clayton fished cabin 7 and beat his Pb again landing a 38lb 6oz mirror known as ‘Warrior’

It’s been a cold week at the White Spring’s fishery with the water temperature plummeting, this has made the fishing has been very up and down.


Wednesday open was on the Match Lake.


1st peg 7 Rob Jones 97lb 2oz.


2nd peg 17 Andy Rogers 68lb 6oz.


3rd peg 13 Brian Protheroe 67lb 11oz.


Sundays open was on the New Canal.


1st peg 10 Mathew Edwards 56lb.


2nd peg 38 Dick Brunton 46lb.


3rd peg 23 Steve O’mara 37lb 12oz.


On the Big Pit Dave Roberts and Paul Boyce were fishing for perch again and doing very well.


Paul had a nice 3lber and Dave had two 3lbers and a 1lb 8oz. Also on the Big Pit Chris Ellis has been here nearly every day and has caught at least 10 carp every day. Steve Dixon has also been doing well catching carp steadily all day.



The Specimen lake fished very hard last week with only a few being caught Ryan Donahoe and his mum fished the old cabin.



Ryan had a 20lber and his mum had 2 high doubles.


White Springs bailiff Kris Jenkins fished peg 11a midweek landing a 21lb 8oz mirror.


Martin Mathews fished The Soil Shed and had a 27lb mirror.

After a wet start to the week it turned sunny in the days but cold in the nights with the water temperature dropping, the fishing was quite hard. Wednesdays open was on the Big Pit,

1st Alan Godrich 54lb

2nd Lou Spinks 44lb 10oz

3rd Brian Protheroe 21lb 10oz

Sundays open was on the Match Lake

1st peg 7 Andy Rogers 93lb

2nd peg 13 Dick Brunton 87lb 5oz

3rd peg 10 Steve ‘hotdog’ John 77lb 12oz

On the Big pit Paul Boyce and Dave Roberts had 3 perch between them up to 2lb 8oz. Steve Dixon had 4 carp up to 14lb.




On the Pleasure Lake Mike Smith had a day fishing for silvers and managed to catch over 50lb including a couple of bream over 5lb.

On the Specimen Lake Jack Gamlen was on peg 6a and caught a nice 27lb mirror.

Anthony Needs fished Meg’s corner and had 3 fish all over 20lb with the best being 24lb 12oz mirror.



Graeme Andrews did a 24hr session on Meg’s corner and had the stunning common Cheryl weighing in at a whopping 40lb 12oz and a new Pb for him as well.



Work is going on; on the Soil Shed peg preparing for our new cabin we are sorry for any inconvenience.

The fishery has been unusually quiet this week, probably due to the wet and windy weather.

Wednesday’s open was on The Match Lake;

1st – Jim Hart on peg 14 with 72lb

2nd – Paddy Payne on peg 16 with 70lb 2oz

3rd – Hugh Scott on peg 24 with 59lb 12oz

4th – Brian Protheroe on peg 13 with 59lb 2oz

One Last Cast were on the New Canal Sunday;

1st – Davis on peg 20 with 27lb 6oz

2nd – Byron Phillips on peg 26 with 23lb 8oz

3rd – Steve Morris on peg 4 with 23lb 8oz

Paul Boyce is becoming a bit of an expert catching perch. He visited us again this week and had another 4 perch up to 3 1/2lb.

Rob Dillon fished on the Big Pit on the cabin peg and had a nice 12lb. Steve Dixon was also on the Big Pit and caught 5 fish all doubles.



John Evans had a nice day on The Pleasure Lake fishing for silvers weighing in over 60lb.

On the Specimen Lake Jake Turner came all the way from Southampton and caught his PB, a nice 26lb mirror.



Ashley Hopkins fished peg 8 and caught 3 fish including a 29lb 1oz mirror and a new PB a lovely 31lb 11oz mirror.



Tony Evans was fishing cabin 11 and caught stunning common ‘Jasper’ weighing 32lb 2oz and a new PB.



Calum Cessford fished peg 13 and had 3 fish including a nice 23lb 14oz mirror.

Annual Carp Competition & Match Results.

This week we had our annual 48hr open competition on The Specimen Lake.


The lake fished quite hard with only ten fish being caught. The lead changed hands a few times and was still anybody’s right to the end.


Leyton Morris won the £1000 prize for heaviest weight; he also won £200 for the heaviest fish 31lb 14oz just beating Matthew Steele’s 30lb 10oz common.



1st – Leyton Morris, 3 fish, 31lb 14oz, 21lb 6oz, 16lb 12oz.


2nd – Jamie Rutherford, 2 fish, 22lb 3oz, 17lb 15oz.


3rd – Matthew Steele, 1 fish, 30lb 10oz.


Wednesdays open was on The Match Lake;


1st – Rob White on peg 19 with 123lb 2oz.


2nd – Alan Godrich on peg 7 with 88lb.


3rd – Paddy Payne on peg 13 with 71lb 4oz.


4th – Brian Protheroe on peg 14 with 62lb 2oz.


Sundays open was on The New Canal;


1st – Mathew Edwards on peg 37 with 60lb 2oz.


2nd – Dick Brunton on peg 11 with 58lb 2oz.


3rd – Mick Round on peg 16 with 50lb 5oz.


On The Big Pit Paul Boyce was perch fishing and had 3 in total including a 4lb 2oz and 3lb 8oz. Nick Jones had a good day fishing for bream catching 60lb including some nice 4/5lbers.

What a week on our Specimen Lake this week.

 

After having three 30+ fish last week on peg 7, Ryan Morley went on peg 11A this week for a 48hr session.

 

On his second morning here he landed the stunning ‘Cheryl’ weighing in at 40lb 2oz and was a new PB for Ryan.


 

Ben Rowley visited us from The Midlands. He was fishing on peg 9A and 24hrs into his session he caught the awesome ‘Bruno’ weighing in at a whopping 41lb 7oz, also becoming his new PB.


 

Sam Childs was on Megs Corner and had a double take, two lovely looking mirrors at 21lb 2oz and 22lb 2oz.


 

Anthony Needs had a good session on cabin nine with three fish including a 26lb 8oz mirror and a 29lb 7oz mirror. He also had a PB perch weighing 3lb 4oz.

It’s been a good week for the Perch.

 

Paul Boyce has had quite a few up to 4lb 11oz.


 

David Roberts has had some awesome perch including a couple of 4lbers, but the best and his new PB was a monster perch of 5lb 29oz. These were caught on The Big Pit.




Chris Ellis had a week off and spent most of his days on the Big Pit and caught between 14 and 22 every day. He also helped other anglers who were blanking and got them catching as well.

The Pleasure Lake has been fishing well with John Evans catching 18 carp up to 18lb 6oz. Michael his brother went two better with 20 carp up to 16lb 4oz.

Wednesdays open was on The New Canal.

 

1st – Alan Godrich on peg 15 with 93lb.

 

2nd – Brian Protheroe on peg 1 with 92lb 6oz.

It’s been very wet this week at the fishery, and the fishing has been very good at times.

On the match scene, this week’s Wednesday open was on the Match Lake and the results were very close with ounces separating many of the anglers.

1st peg 7 Brian Higgins 104lb 14oz

2nd peg 14 Brian Protheroe103lb 8oz

3rd peg 13 James Thomas 102lb 11oz

4th peg 24 Paddy Payne 72lb

5th peg 11 Andy Rodgers

Sundays open was also on the Match Lake

This was won by Alan Godrich 142lb 10oz off peg 14

Second was Jim Hart with 101lb 80z off peg 13

And third was Steven Beresford with 71lb 8oz off peg 20

Glamorgan Angling were on the New Canal which saw a 55lb 8oz bag from peg 5 win for Dave Pike with Steve Cough second with 54lb 2oz bag off peg 8 followed in third place with Rob Michael landing a 37lb 8oz bag off peg 21

 

Two anglers Garin Grace Rossiter and Matthew O’Brian landed nineteen carp between them on the Big Pit.


Visiting angler John Evans from Bristol caught four Perch weighing up to 4lb 1oz using red maggot and prawn, whilst Anthony Bradley had a cracking day on the Match Lake and caught a lovely Barbel.


 

On the Specimen Lake more personal bests were achieved this week.

“Mr Tuts” a common at 29lb 12oz was landed as a new pb for Joe Olewnik off peg 11a. And from cabin 11, Nathan Dee also landed a pb with “The Turk” weighing in 31lb 13oz.


 


Ashley Hughes landed a mirror at 27lb from The Island, whilst Darren Ned landed two carp including a pretty 24lb mirror from Megs Corner.

Sam Child who’s previous pb was from the fishery went and caught a new pb again from peg 8 with a 32lb 14oz common called “Jasper”


Congratulations to everyone with the new personal bests, the management apologise for the inconvenience caused last week in the shop, alterations to the shelving and layout were made to allow new stock to be added.

It’s been a great week for big fish here at White Springs Fishery.

Specimen Lake.

Jack Jenkins on the Soil Shed had two fish including ‘CTC’ a 31lb 14oz mirror and a new PB.



 

Sam Childs and Ryan Morley were on cabin 7 for a 72hr session. Sam had four fish with a new PB, the stunning mirror ‘Jaden’ weighing in at 30lb 02oz. Sam would have increased his PB if he didn’t go and help another fishermen. His rod went off and Ryan struck/played and landed the fish a cracking 34lb common called ‘Nessie’.



Ryan was having a tough time on his own road until the last morning, and it was worth the wait. He landed the hard fighting ‘Rambo’ a mirror weighing 37lb 2oz. Just minutes before pulling his rods in he was in again with another mirror ‘The Don’ weighing 36lb 12oz.



 

 

Jamie Davies our junior bailiff had a 24hr on peg 6 and had a new PB, a mirror called ‘Trio’ weighing 33lb 9oz. It took a fancy to White Springs’ Squid & Octopus boilies.



 

 

Dylan Jones on peg 8 smashed his PB landing ‘Warrior’ a mirror weighing 37lb 10oz.



 

 

Tony Evans had a 24hr on peg 8 and also had a PB a mirror called ‘Delboy’ weighing 31lb 2oz.



 

 

Angler of the week has to be Rick Coppard on his second visit to us; he was fishing on peg 11. He had five fish including 3 x 30’s.

His first 30 was ‘CTC’s’ cousin’ a mirror weighing 31lb 6oz. 2nd was the stunning common ‘Bailey’ at 35lb 2oz and 3rd was ‘Rambo’ at 36lb 12oz.

He also had a 23lb common and a 17lb mirror.

Well done everyone on your PB’s.

The Big Pit and Pleasure Lake have also been fishing well with most anglers catching a lot of fish.

At the fishery this week we’ve had a lot of heavy rain on most days and towards the end of the week the temperature has been dropping in the night which has slowed the fishing down a little bit.

Wednesdays open was on the New Canal.

1st peg 17 Alan Godrich 99lb 14oz.

2nd peg 6 Brian Protheroe 63lb 4oz.

3rd peg 35 Paddy Payne 35lb 2oz.

Sundays open was also on the New Canal.

1st peg 18 Alan Godrich 78lb 2oz.

2nd peg 33 Rob Jones 65lb 8oz.

3rd peg 28 dick Brunton 58lb 12oz.

4th peg 6 Andy Kirtley 55lb 4oz.

On the Big Pit Chris Ellis had a few carp including a pretty mirror.




Jamie Davies also had a nice looking mirror and Perch.



Dave Jones from Gloucester had a cracking day on the Big Pit catching 4 perch the best being a 4lb 6oz specimen using red maggots and prawns.

On the Specimen Lake Ryan Wilcox fishing on peg 11a had 2 fish including ‘Double D’ weighing 30lb 6oz.

Sam Childs and Dave Biagioni were on peg 7.

Dave had 2 fish including a pb ‘Nessie’ at 34lb 12oz.

Sam had 2 fish as well, a stunning 29lb mirror and a 25lb common.




Jack Jenkins had a 24hr on the Soil Shed and had 2 fish. A lovely mirror called CTC at 31lb 14oz a new pb.




Jack moved to peg 3 for another night and had an 18lb 2oz mirror.

John Mayhew was on the Old Cabin and had 2 stunning fish a 22lb common and a 20lb mirror. Congratulations everyone on your PB’s.

The weather this week has been mostly heavy showers and windy which had made the fishing a bit difficult.

Wednesdays match was on the New Canal.

1st – peg 13, Alan Godrich with 92lb 4oz.

2nd – peg 20, Rob White with 58lb 14oz.

3rd – peg 5, John Charlesworth with 52lb 12oz.

Sundays open was on the Match Lake.

1st – peg 14, Colin Luff with 114lb 4oz.

2nd – peg 15, Andy Kirtley with 49lb 14oz.

3rd – peg 21, Peter Roue with 49lb 12oz.

4th – peg 13, Mick Higgingbottom with 38lb 4oz.

Aberglais Angling was on the New Canal on Sunday.

1st – peg 20, Phil Jones with 62lb 9oz.

2nd – peg 17, Gary Lewis with 57lb 6oz.

3rd – peg 41, Brian Protheroe with 47lb 10oz.

Jamie Davies was on the Big Pit and had a few carp using White Springs Banana and one of our smaller perch 2lb 6oz on a free lined prawn.




On the Specimen Lake John Hodgson was on peg 11A and caught the stunning ‘Cheryl’ weighing a whopping 39lb 11oz, his new UK PB.




Craig Birch was on cabin 7 for a week and landed 13 fish including his first 30lb+ from White Springs, ‘CTC’ weighing 31lb 8oz.



Mark Powell was fishing cabin 8 and had 5 fish including a new PB, a cracking mirror called ‘Rambo’ weighing in at 38lb 8oz.



Ryan Donohoe had a cracking 48hr session on peg 13 with six fish, 21lb common, 26lb mirror and a fish that he named 12 months ago ‘The Don’ at 35lb 15oz.



Darren Stephens on peg 7 raised his PB by a few ounces catching a lovely common ‘Chunk’ a 30lb 14oz.
